About the Foodbank app. Please read below to see all the features of the Foodbank app.

Shopping List

The shopping list displays all the items normally required by your Foodbank. Items that are urgently required by your Foodbank are shown in red, items in short supply are amber and those currently well stocked are shown in green.

You can amend the list as often as you like as your stock levels change and the app will be automatically updated to allow your supporters to see which items are urgently in need.

Push Notifications

A push notification is a short text alert similar to a text message (SMS) that appears on a smart phone to alert the user to a news item or app update. This can be used by your Foodbank to send urgent messages to your supporters.

For example, if you have a sudden increase in demand for donations, have run out of a particular food item or need volunteers for a supermarket collection, you can communicate immediately with all the users of your app.

News

The News screen is a ‘shop window ‘ for your Foodbank activities – you can post photos of supermarket collections, details of special events and let supporters know how much food you have collected and given out each month. You can also advertise for volunteers and update supporters about changes to your operating times. You can add news items as often as you like.

About Us

This page shows your contact details and also displays operating times so that supporters know when and where to bring their donations. Photos of your operating premises and a location map can be added. You can also provide information about how to become a volunteer and about the vision of the wider Foodbank network. This page can be updated as often as you like.

Settings

Each app user can customise their settings by selecting their local Foodbank from a drop-down list to make sure they are viewing the shopping list and receiving notifications from their chosen Foodbank.

The user can select a different Foodbank if they move to a new area or wish to support more than one Foodbank. The supporter can also set a weekly reminder alarm to coincide with their usual shopping time so reminding them to include your Foodbank items in their list.
